According to philosopher Pierre Hadot, the exercise of "looking up" is a way of putting everything, every being, every event back in its rightful place, its exact measure in our consciousness. In this way, we can take a holistic view of the world (cosmos) and regain or find our rightful place in it. The My view from above 1 artwork illustrates my view through the eyes of a condor, my totem animal. The condor is one of the birds that can fly over the highest mountain peaks, experiencing this precious view from above. It is beneficial to use this view on a daily basis to develop perspective and discernment.
This artwork was created in 2024 from a photo-projection made from Photographs of the Tizi n'Tichka pass in the Western High Atlas range, and of a flat-topped mountain in the first foothills of the Atlas near Rehaiate, Morocco, Africa.
