According to philosopher Pierre Hadot, the exercise of "looking up" is a way of putting everything, every being, every event back in its rightful place, its exact measure in our consciousness. In this way, we can take a holistic view of the world (cosmos) and regain or find our rightful place in it. The My view from above 2 artwork illustrates my view through the eyes of a condor, my totem animal. The condor is one of the birds that can fly over the highest mountain peaks, experiencing this precious view from above. I use this view on a daily basis to develop perspective and discernment.
This artwork was created in 2024 from a photo-projection made from Photographs of a flat-topped mountain in the first foothills of the Atlas near Rehaiate, Morocco, and of a sunset over the sea at the Langue de Barbarie, St. Louis, Senegal, Africa.
