THE SALT PONDS OF SIWA
THE SALT PONDS OF SIWA

The turquoise, milky color of the water is typical of Siwa’s salt ponds, where the high concentration of salt creates a pastel, almost opaque effect. On the horizon, white and beige ridges blend with the surrounding sand and limestone hills. The place emanates a silent atmosphere, suspended between mirage and matter. In this dense water, the body floats effortlessly, it levitates. The salt purifies, preserves, and connects water and light in an ancient alchemy. In this mirror of salt and silence, the body lets itself be carried, like life, when we stop resisting.
This photograph of the salt ponds was captured near the Oasis of Siwa, Egypt, Africa.
